RAWALPINDI: Youm-i- Ali was observed with devotion and respect in the garrison city, to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS). A procession was taken out on the night between Thursday and Friday.
The procession, led by Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqa Jafariya Chief Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, was taken out from Ali Masjid.
Meanwhile, majlis for women was held at Jamia Al-Murtaza G-9/4 Islamabad, in which a number of women participated. Mukhtar Force Volunteers, Ibrahim Scouts and Ummul Baneen performed voluntary services during these programmes.
Talking to Dawn, Deputy Commissioner retired Capt Anwarul Haq said: “The procession for Youm-i-Ali was at a reduced scale; after a meeting between the administration and local police with religious scholars, the matter had been solved.”
He said permission to take out the procession was granted, as per standard operating procedure. Participants were asked to maintain social distancing and observe all other precautionary measures to prevent spread of coronavirus, he added.
