SAHIWAL: Another doctor tested positive for Covid-19 in the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital on Saturday.

Earlier, a general physician at the emergency ward of the Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital was also declared positive. The fresh case belongs to the orthopedic ward of the teaching hospital.

Dr Farukh, media coordinator, told Dawn the medical college administration had sealed the ward while the doctor has been shifted to the isolation centre at a private hospital.

Also, 25 medical staff of the orthopedic ward have been quarantined in their houses. The doctor’s test was conducted under SOPs after he developed a few symptoms.

Mianwali declared virus free

The screening of immediate contacts of the doctor has been done.

MIANWALI: There is no coronavirus patient in Mianwali after all the patients have been tested negative and discharged from isolation wards of hospitals.

The focal person on coronavirus, District Health Officer Dr Rafique Khan, said 20 patients had recovered. They had been allowed to go home after recovery and instructed to continue isolation at home for a few days.

He said three patients were shifted to Mianwali from the isolation ward at Islamabad’s Expo Centre when the administration decided to send patients to their native districts.

All of them recovered and were allowed to go home, he said.

KASUR: With six new cases of coronavirus in Toheed Town of Pattoki on Saturday, the number of cases in the district soared to 103.

The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department issued the reports of the new cases, including a woman and a minor, on Saturday. The Tehsil Pattoki administration sealed the locality while Rescue 1122 shifted the suspects to district public School in Kasur.

The district health authorities have so far sent 1,559 samples for screening, of which 103 were declared positive while 440 reports were pending.

SARGODHA: Three confirmed patients of coronavirus have been shifted to the isolation ward while the health authorities decided to get samples of families of the fresh cases.
