SHANGLA: The district administration has banned display and sale of toy guns and firecrackers ahead of Eidul Fitr.

Assistant commissioner Khuram Rehman said on Sunday that the ban would remain in force till June. He said that raids would also be conducted on markets to seize toy guns and firecrackers.

He asked the shopkeepers of Bisham tehsil to cooperate with the administration otherwise they would be dealt with under the law and the firecrackers would be seized.

PRESSURE HORNS: Police have removed pressure horns from scores of heavy vehicles across the district.

A statement issued by the DPO office said that traffic police head Bakht Zeb and other wardens carried out the crackdown on heavy vehicles using pressure horns.

It said that the police removed pressure horns from over 70 vehicles in which 80 per cent had been used by dumper trucks.

Police also asked the drivers to avoid use of pressure horns and follow traffic rules otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.

Meanwhile, the DPO announced that the special police force personnel, who were regularised recently, would get their pending salaries of two months before Eidul Fitr. He said he had issued directives to the accounts department in this regard.

ANTI-RABIES VACCINE: People of Koz Kana here have demanded of the tehsil municipal administration, Alpuri, and district administration to kill stray dogs and ensure availability of anti-rabies vaccine in local hospitals. They said the hospitals had been short of the vaccines for the last one year.

Talking to this scribe, they said stray dogs could be seen roaming in Koz Kana, Borshat and Shahpur areas of Kana tehsil and several dog bite cases had been reported in these areas.

Javid Iqbal, a resident, said he had submitted an application to the TMA and district administration for killing stray dogs but no action was taken.
