PPP should play Pakistan card, not Sindh card: Qureshi

MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said his party is fully aware of the importance and characteristics of the 18thAmendment and it cannot repeal it even if it wants to as it lacks two-thirds majority in parliament.
Talking to the media here on Monday, the minister claimed the PPP was playing politics on the constitutional amendment by pretending to be a victim of political victimisation.
“I tried to guide Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari that the PPP is a federal party and it should avoid doing politics of provincialism. I remember the occasions when Benazir Bhutto used to snub him. Instead of playing the ‘Sindh card’, the PPP should play Pakistan card. It should do politics in Sindh as it is its right, while we also don’t need a No-Objection Certificate to do politics in [the province] as it is our right too,” he added.
“The federal cabinet is going to approve an agriculture package of Rs65 billion to facilitate the farming community, as it is the only sector which can bring us out of the economic crisis created because of coronavirus,” he added.
To a question regarding the sugar scandal, the foreign minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan was not compromising over the issue, while the inquiry report will be made public soon.

It is good that people in Pakistan are getting to know which politicians are in politics to serve the people and which ones are there just to make money. Some have family business, n democracy in their political party. Hope people of Pakistan with help of court system would put all greedy politicians out of business soon so country can progress for better life standard of its people. Long Live Pakistan.

This most corrupt regional party PPP has misused and misguided the innocent inhabitants of the rural areas of Sindh for decades and decades in the name of Sindh-Card and left them poor, illiterate, uncivilised, uneducated, etc., with such self founded arguments that the outsiders (Panjabis, Mohajirs) are responsible for their miserable lives deliberately.
How gruesome, cruel and brutal this party is.
But nature never spares the evils.

The concept of Sindh card was introduced by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of PPP when he became PM and introduced quota system in govt. jobs and divided Sindh into two parts one Urban and other Rural to facilitate Sindhi speaking people living in interior of Sindh.
Quota system was introduced to uplift condition of a common Sindhi and it was decided that quota system will be imposed for a period of 10 years.
However after 10 years PPP and subsequent incoming govts. did not revoked quota system imposed in1973 resulting in that PPP came into power several times paving the way to pass 18th Amendment in the Constitution when Asif Ali Zardari became president of the country.
The result of playing Sindh card and imposing quota system for last 47 years followed by 18th Amendment in Constitution gave sweeping powers to PPP.
Despite PTI came into power in other provinces but could not make its govt. in Sindh province and an ordinary Sindhi is still crying to uplift his condition for the last 47 years

Practically what PTI is doing? Is PTI national party? Is PM IK prime minister of Punjab, KPK and Balochistan? During, covid-19 pandemic he visited Punjab, KPK and Balochistan, never visited Sindh.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi is a veteran in PPP history. Bilawal must respect his advise. There will be no Sindh Card if even now the Federal Govt just amend the notification of shifting Capital from Karachi to Islamabad on 14/8/67. The Federal Govt can amend that gazette notification and new notification should have effectiveness retroactive since 14/8/1967, which clearly cancel the handover of Karachi to Sindh Province, and Karachi be deemed as Federal Territory as “ Commercial Capital” Karachi has State Bank Head Office, it has PIA ,H.O. NIC H.O.,besides it is a mini- Pakistan. After declaring Karachi as “ Commercial Capital” The Federal Govt can give max autonomy to LG Govt, while get hold of all the taxes to Federal Exchequer, and smoothly run all functions including Police. Besides onwards no and never the PPP will ever think of using Sindh Card.

@Syed A. Mateen, What a logic? 'The quota system is Sindh card' Please read history and learn from other countries. No doubt about PPP corruption and incompetence in Sindh. I am not supporting the PPP government and the feudal of other parties in Sindh. But how the quota system is bad. You will find this approach in other countries as well, the purpose is to uplift the people and communities of backward regions. The quota system is mainly applied for education and employment in public sectors. OK. If I agree that quota/PPP is responsible for bad governance in Sindh. Then why South Punjab and Balochistan people have multidimensional poverty (education, health, and living standards) where PPP does not govern the province. The reason is that in Pakistan there is no fair distribution of resources. So please talk against PPP not Sindhies or quota system.
