LAHORE: The Sheikhupura police have arrested a woman after she allegedly killed her husband with the connivance of her paramour.

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged after Younas Masih was found murdered in a drain near Dao Ki Mallian, in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police, on May 25.

Younas was the brother-in-law of Asia Bibi who was acquitted in a blasphemy case and left the country last year.

His brother George Masih filed an application with the police, nominating the wife of the deceased and her paramour.

Punjab Operations DIG Sohail Akhtar Sukhera told Dawn the Sheikhupura police team conducted a raid and arrested the male accused as well.

Quoting the accused who ‘confessed’ to committing the crime, he said they killed Younus on Eid day at around 3pm and dumped his body in the drain in a bid to conceal their crime.

The DIG said the body had already been sent to the city morgue for autopsy.
