KOHAT/KARAK: Police killed the alleged ring-leader of a robbers’ gang, who had gunned down a police head constable here the other day, during an operation in the mountains of Muhammadzai area in the wee hours of Wednesday.

District police officer Mansoor Aman led the operation.

After getting a tip-off about the presence of the gang the police surrounded the whole area.

However, the outlaws started firing at the police. The police retaliated the attack and eliminated an outlaw named Yousuf. He was wanted by the cantonment, city and counter-terrorism police in murders, highway robberies, extortion and attacks on police Earlier, the funeral prayers of the martyred policeman, Amjidullah, were held at the Fareed Hussain police lines. A smartly turned out contingent presented salute.

DPO Mansoor Aman, the DPO Karak and other officials were present on the occasion. A floral wreath was laid at the coffin by the DPO Kohat.

Meanwhile, head constable Amjadullah, who embraced martyrdom in Kohat on Tuesday night, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Dodha Khel area of Karak on Wednesday.

An official statement said Amjadullah embraced martyrdom in an encounter with the outlaws at Lal Mela area of Kohat. His funeral prayers were also attended by MNA Shahid Khan Khattak and MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel.

On the occasion, district police officer Nausher Khan Mohmand paid rich tribute to the martyred cop and said he was a brave man who sacrificed his life for the safety of the people.
