SUKKUR: Four men were killed and a woman injured when the car they were travelling in overturned in a locality near Baberloi bypass between Sukkur and Khairpur on Friday.

Three of the deceased were identified as Waqar, Awais and Qadir. The unidentified victim was driving the car which was hired by the passengers.

According to the injured woman, Sumera Waqar, her husband, Waqar, lived in Karachi and she had been on a visit to the city.

It was gathered that Waqar hired the car to drop his wife to their permanent residence in Faisalabad as intercity transport services are inoperative these days. Two other passengers, Awais and Qadir, intending to proceed to Faisalabad also joined them in the journey.

Ms Waqar said they had left Karachi with the “unknown” driver. When the car reached near the Baberloi bypass, it overturned, she told police at the Sukkur Civil Hospital, where she has been admitted for treatment.

The bodies of all four deceased were present in the hospital’s mortuary until Friday evening as their relatives were yet to turn up to collect them.
