ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing against a foreigner for posting on her Twitter account what it describes as derogatory and slanderous remarks about slain party chairperson and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

The complaint has been filed by PPP’s district president in Islamabad Advocate Shakeel Abbasi.

According to a press release issued by the PPP’s media cell, the remarks of American blogger Cynthia D. Richie about Ms Bhutto have saddened all those people who hold the slain PPP chairperson in high esteem and caused immense pain and agony to them.

The applicant requested the FIA to take immediate action against the blogger. The copy of the tweet is attached with the application.

The application has been submitted to the FIA for registration of a case. It states that it has been brought to the notice of the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing that a woman has tweeted extremely derogatory and slanderous remarks about Ms Bhutto.

Terming Ms Richie’s remarks false, untrue, defaming and slanderous, the PPP application says that they have caused immense pain and agony to millions of people across Pakistan who revere and hold Ms Bhutto in high esteem. The application has requested the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing to initiate proceedings against the blogger as prescribed by the law.
