LODHRAN: Six persons, including a four-year-old child and a woman, were killed while 32 others injured, four of them seriously, on Sunday when a bus overturned at Pul Rangu, Kabirwala, in Khanewal district.

According to Rescue 1122 emergency service officials, a bus carrying passengers was going to Multan from Shakar Garh when its driver lost control over it while trying to save a motorcyclist that suddenly came in front of the speeding vehicle at Pul Rangu at Kabirwala.

As a result, six passengers, including a child were killed on the spot, they said.

Rescue 1122 teams, on being informed of the incident, reached the scene, rescued the injured passengers and moved the dead bodies to the Kabirwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

They said four of the passengers, who were seriously injured were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, while 26 others were shifted to different hospitals in Khanewal and Kabirwala. Two of the passengers with minor injuries were discharged after provision of first aid.

Those who were killed in the accident were identified as 4-year-old Daniel of Narowal, Adil Saeed, 19, of Multan, Taimoor, 28, Shahbaz, 36, Najeeb Ullah, 26 and Zakriya begum, 35, a resident of Shakar Garh.

Khanewal Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi, along with Kabirwal Assistant Commissioner Shabbir Ahmad Dogar visited the Trauma Centre at Khanewal and directed the district health authority head to ensure good treatment of the injured.

He also ordered the AC to make arrangements for shifting of the bodies to their native areas.According to local administration, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar sought a report from Multan commissioner about the incident.
