THE WEEK THAT WAS

Mehrposh | Geo TV, Fridays 8.00pm

If front doors weren’t left open in TV plays, random people wouldn’t walk into people’s homes to make catastrophic changes in their lives. But Master sahib’s (Rehan Sheikh) front door was left wide open so Mehru’s angry husband Naeem (Ali Abbas) walks in, with what seems to be the entire neighbourhood, to divorce Mehru (Ayeza Khan) in front of a highly-inquisitive live audience. Hence Mehru and her family are publicly humiliated and, shortly afterwards, the humongous Master sahib falls to the floor due to a heart attack. Earlier, Shahjehan (Danish Taimoor) had met Naeem to plead and beg him to reconsider his decision to divorce Mehru, but in vain. Now the coast is clear for Shahjehan to fine-tune his mind and marry Mehru.

Dilruba | Hum TV, Saturdays 8.00pm

Life has become unbelievably beautiful for the newly-married Sanam (Hania Aamir) but only until she returns from the honeymoon. She visits her mother-in-law in the hospital, which is incidentally where Junaid (Shehroze Sabzwari as the ultra-sensitive stalker who Sanam carelessly flirted with) lands too after hearing about Sanam’s marriage from her friend. Junaid’s mum (Huma Nawab) recognises Sanam and literally drags her to see the terrible state Junaid is in because of Sanam breaking his heart. Junaid creates a huge scene by going down on his knees and the works, and Sanam’s husband Razi gets to see it all much to his horror. The fun and games for attention and precious gifts from her admirers are all over, and now it’s payback time for Sanam.

What To Watch Out For

Ishqiya | ARY, Mondays 8.00pm

Why should the sensible and conscientious Hamna (Ramsha Khan) agree to meet ex-boyfriend and currently her brother-in-law Hamza (Feroze Khan), and sit all evening in a café watching him in silence while he gazes into his mobile phone and sips his coffee, is quite baffling. That, too, at the cost of risking her marriage to nice hubby Azeem (Gohar Rasheed) by lying to him stupidly and causing suspicion. While the story is all set to take a rocky turn for the marriages of both sisters —Hamna and Roomi — because of Hamza’s stubbornness over losing Hamna, and Hamna’s receptiveness to Hamza’s incessant bullying, Gohar Rasheed and Hania Aamir, as Roomi, remain on top of their roles.
