OKARA: After a hectic persuasion by the administration and district bar, DHQ City Hospital doctors announced end to their two-week strike at the OPD on Tuesday.
Their boycott started on May 16 after journalist Nasir Waheed died due to the alleged negligence of some senior medics. When journalists protested, the hospital administration surrendered the services of consultant cardiologist Dr Imran Dogar and medical officer Dr Asim Latif. Terming their surrender illegal, hospital doctors led by YDA went on strike.
During the last few days, bar leaders on behalf of the the deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner held repeated meetings with YDA and consultant doctors to resolve the issue to end patients’ sufferings.
On doctors demand, the administration said the MO’s surrender can be revisited at the district health authority level while the consultant’s case can only be decided by the health secretary concerned.
