HYDERABAD, Sept 10: Hyderabad DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has said that teachers, students and parents were three important pillars of education and coordination among them was vital to raise the standard of literacy.

He was speaking at the annual day function of Bahria Foundation College, Hyderabad, at the Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium, Sindh Museum, here on Saturday.

While addressing to the gathering of parents, educationists and guests, the DCO said that the literacy ratio in Sindh had been continuously declining.

He said that the falling rate of education had given birth to many social and economic problems like unemployment, poverty, lack of skilled manpower, underdevelopment, and rise in criminal activities.

Mr Syed said that the federal, provincial and district governments were investing largely in the education sector but their efforts would go fruitless if parents did not cooperate with them.

He emphasized especially on the role of mothers in character building of a child.

While discussing possible improvements in the education sector, the DCO said there was a need to improve interaction between the teachers of public and private sector so that they can share their experiences to enhance each other’s skills.

He said it was necessary to provide education to a common man at his doorsteps.

The DCO also put stress on teachers’ training, as untrained teachers could not give quality education to children.
