CHITRAL: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Wednesday criticised the PTI government over ‘utter failure’ to resolve the shortage of drinking water here.

They said the issue had cropped up a year ago after floods hit the Golen Gol water scheme.

PPP leaders Fazle Rabbi Jan, Qazi Faisal, Amirullah Khan and Alam Zeb told reporters here that it was the incompetence of the government to ensure the restoration of the Golen Gol water scheme a year after the flooding.

They also warned that the residents would agitate if the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was realigned through Kalam area of Swat district instead of Chitral to join Ghizar district in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The PPP leaders said any change in that alignment would deny CPEC benefits to both Chitral and Lower and Upper Dir districts.

They also criticised the government for capping the Chitral-Shandur and Chitral-Garam Chashma road projects, which were approved by the former government, even after the floating of tenders.
