KARACHI: The country’s first online basketball coaching course was inaugurated here on Thursday by Additional Commissioner Karachi One Asad Ali Khan in a simple ceremony at the Commissioner’s Office.
The course has been organized by Sports For Life in collaboration with the Karachi Basketball Association and Sindh Olympics Association. More than 350 participants are going to benefit from this course and will be imparted lessons on the techniques and skills of basketball, its coaching and rules etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Asad Khan said it is delightful to see people and sportspersons taking keen interest in online sports courses and lessons which is a healthy sign. “It will help in promotion of basketball as a sport and will Inshallah produce new talent,” he said.
He reiterated that in under the able leadership and guidance of Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani, the city administration will continue to make all out efforts to promote healthy and sports activities.
Later, international player Abdul Nasir and qualified coach Yaqoob Qadri — who are conducting the course - briefed the Additional Commissioner about the main points of the course.
Also present on the occasion was SOA’s Ahmed Rajput and KBBA President Ghulam Mohammad who thanked Sports Secretary Sindh Imtiaz Ali Shah and Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani for their tremendous supports for sports and basketball.
At the end, CEO Sports For Life Shehzad Kazi presented a souvenir to Additional Commissioner.
