POLICE ROLE REVIEWED: The District Public Safety Commission (DPSC) Haripur on Friday reviewed police role towards general public, especially in connection with ensuring implementation of SOPs for prevention of Covid-19 pandemic in the district.

The commission’s meeting was chaired by Masoodur Rehman Advocate.

It took up different matters, especially the post-lockdown situation.

The meeting also discussed contents of complaints received against the police department for alleged excesses. It decided to dig deep further on the complaints of illegal detention, harassment and extortion before reaching conclusion.

The inquiry reports of Haripur police on the final recommendations of DPSC that were forwarded to police high-ups during April for implementation were also discussed and members decided to take the matter up with higher authorities as they believed that the findings of the inquiry were totally ignored and the contents of FIRs reproduced in official probe too were conducted by police officers.

The DPSC budget for fiscal year 2020-21 was also part of the agenda discussed during the meeting.
