SARGODHA: A case was registered against over 50 lawyers for trying to illegally occupy the state land along the office of tehsildar and carrying out construction on it.

Tehsildar Salman Kareem summoned a heavy contingent of police and a scuffle continued between them and the lawyers for several hours. The tehsildar registered a case against the lawyers with the Cantt police.

Police claimed that the land had been retrieved; however, lawyers claimed that the land was still in their possession as it was allotted to them for chambers by the bar association and they would not stop construction.

Meanwhile, the Sargodha Bar Association condemned registration of a case against the lawyers without consulting it.

The number of lawyers is increasing in Sargodha and there is no arrangement by the bar association to give them space for their chambers.

Some years back a multistorey block was constructed on a self-finance basis but the project failed due to alleged corruption.

TWO DIE: Two minor siblings were crushed to death in a road accident on Lahore-Sargodha road.

Muhammad Naveed Shaukat along with his sister Nabeela and two children Hunza Shaukat (12) and Anna Shaukat (5) were going home on motorcycle when it reached near Sial Morr, it collided with another motorcycle and all those riding it fell on the road. Meanwhile, a dumper truck appeared and ran the children over. Both the children died on the spot while the driver of the truck managed to escape.

Police shifted the injured to hospital and registered a case against the driver.
