LAHORE: Owing to the extraordinary circumstances in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Punjab government has called for curtailing the unnecessary expenditures and observing strict financial discipline while preparing budget for the financial year 2020-21.

Chairing a meeting, attended by the law minister, chief secretary, law secretary, finance secretary and other officials, here on Sunday, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar stressed that health and social sectors should be given a priority. He stressed that no burden should be put on the weak segments of society despite facing adverse financial conditions.

“The upcoming 2020-21 fiscal year budget and the Annual Development Programme will be based on factual statistics,” he claimed.

NOTICE: The chief minister has taken notice of a news item regarding an attempt to demolish the wall and grabbing the land of the Punjab University. He sought a report from the CCPO Lahore, an impartial investigation into the matter and submission of its report within 48 hours. He ordered to initiate legal action against those involved in this land grabbing attempt.

The CM issued directions for legal action irrespective of anyone being influential.
