SUKKUR: The First Additional Judge of Jacobabad Sessions Court, Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, on Tuesday rejected the bail application of four suspects nominated in the May 28 murder of a journalist, Zulfiqar Ali Mandrani, and remanded them into jail custody.

Police constable Mumtaz Dayo, Imam Ali Shah, Ustad Akbar Dayo and Ghulam Ali Dayo — who were on interim bail granted to them by the Sindh High Court at Larkana — appeared before the judge for confirmation of their bail but the judge rejected their plea and remanded them in judicial custody.

As soon as the order was passed, the suspects were arrested and sent to jail.

Mandrani, a reporter of Sindhi daily Koshish was shot dead while he was visiting a widow belonging to the Dayo community in Dodapur town of Garhi Khero taluka in Jacobabad. The area police believed it was a case of honour killing.
