THATTA, Sept 11: A man was electrocuted and several katcha houses collapsed when rains lashed several Sindh districts on Sunday. In Mirpur Sakro, Karim, 14, was electrocuted and over half a dozen katcha huts collapsed. A number of villages along the coastal belt were submerged following moderate rainfall in the district.
The rain started on Saturday evening and continued on Sunday.
Reports from Kharo Chhan, Ghorabari, Keti Bunder and Shah Bunder talukas said villages came under knee-deep water and communication system was cut off from the district headquarters.
The inundated villages inlcude Yaqoob Marghar, Mohammad Barani and Murid.
In Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpur Bathoro, Jhoke Sharif and Daro, power supply remained suspended for hours.
In Daro, two boys received injuries as their motorbike slipped and fell into a ditch.
Low-lying areas in and around Thatta town are under knee deep water.
In many areas water supply lines were damaged as the motorist drove over main water line invisible and concealed under rain water.
Due to constant power failure people are facing hardships.
NAWABSHAH: The city and surrounding areas received rain here on Sunday.
The weather became pleasant and temperature fell to 29 degrees.
Syed Ali Mohammad Shah, information secretary Sindh Abadgar Board informed that cotton crop over hundreds of acres throughout Nawabshah was damaged due to rains.
DADU: Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Sehwan and Johi talukas received moderate rains on Saturday night.
Electricity, telephone and transport systems remained suspended for the hours.
Heavy wind also disturbed electricity poles in Dadu town.
