KOHAT: Vice chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology (Kust) Prof Syed Tasleem Hussain has said that a decisionhas been to start online classes from June 15.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said that the Higher Education Commission had turned down a proposal of free promotions at the university level like schools and colleges and decided to start regular online classes from 15th of this month.

About the tribal areas of Orakzai and Kurram districts where network is not available, he said the HEC would provide the students with USBs.

Prof Hussain said that they had held four meetings with the HEC chairman in this regard and the decision had been made to provide lectures on the doorstep of students. He said that test online lectures had been sent to the students.

He said that fortunately they had the opportunity of summer semester and if the Covid-19 threat was eliminated they could start regular classes at the university.

ANTI-SMUGGLING SQUADS: DIG Kohat division Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has directed officials of all the five districts to constitute anti-smuggling squads to stop people from bringing non-custom paid items and vehicles into the country to evade duty.

He was chairing a meeting, which was attended by DPOs of Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai, Kurram and Karak districts.

Mr Cheema asked them to take strict action against smugglers of non-custom paid vehicles, cloth, electronic goods, spare parts of vehicles, mobile phones, etc.

ARRESTED: Hangu police have arrested alleged killers of six members of a wedding party in Zargari after nine months of the incident.

DPO Shahid Khan said that many people were also injured in the attack on a coach. He said the investigation teams arrested the POs who were hiding in a house in Zargari. The accused Amjid Khan and Mohammad Ishaq Khan had been nominated in the FIR.
