VEHARI: Five members of a family were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Burewala-Arifwala road, some 50 kilometres from here, on Friday afternoon.

A Burewala-based family was travelling in a car from Arifwala. When they reached near Mana Mor stop, their vehicle collided with a mini-truck while overtaking. As a result, five members of the family, including three children, were killed on the spot.

They were identified as Arshad, his wife Rizwana, their son Awais, and minor nephews Abdul Rahman and Abdullah.

Two critically injured minors, Yousaf and Abdullah, were referred to Bahawal Victoria Hospital due to their serious condition.

Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies to Burewala THQ Hospital.

The mini-truck driver managed to escape after the incident.

Gagoo police registered a case against the truck driver and started investigation.
