RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) President and Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who tested positive for Covid-19 on June 8, is feeling well and recovering fast, said Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control Sheikh Rashid Shafique on Sunday.

Talking to Dawn, the PTI MNA, who is nephew of the federal minister, said Sheikh Rashid was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for medical checkup on Saturday night and his condition was stable.

He said rumours about his deteriorating health condition were wrong. The minister had gone to the hospital for a medical checkup where doctors advised him to stay in the hospital for a few days.

He said the AML chief was suffering from some lung problems and doctors were treating him for it.

He said he had no symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough and tiredness.

He said Covid-19 tests of all the staffers of Lal Haveli, the political office of the AML president, and his family members were conducted and all of them tested negative.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had a telephonic conversation with Sheikh Rashid and inquired after his health.

The speaker prayed for the early recovery of the railway minister.
