KHAIRPUR, Sept 12: The district election board of the People’s Party Parliamentarians has finalized names of ADP candidates for district and taluka nazims slots.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Sindh PPP president Syed Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Manzoor Wassan, MPA Naeem Kharal and former district nazim Nafisa Shah said MPA Dr Mehreen Bhutto had been nominated as ADP candidate for district nazim slot whereas Raza Wassan would be the covering candidate.

Candidates for taluka nazims were also announced who included Amjad Shah Jilani for Khairpur taluka, Munawar Hussain Wassan for Kotdiji taluka, Mumtaz Hussain Sehto for Sobhodero taluka, Faqir Shahid Ali Hisbani for Faiz Ganj taluka, Pir Mashooq Shah Jilani for Thari Mirwah taluka and Syed Aftab Shah Rashdi for Kingri taluka.

Candidates for taluka nazim Gambat and Nara will be announced later.

Qaim Ali Shah said the PPP believed in democracy while manipulation and rigging was policy of the government.

He said the Sindh chief minister and other ministers and candidates of coalition partners were violating code of conduct but no one could hold them accountable as they think that they were above the law.

He said the party would continue to fight for rights of people and it was only reason they were contesting the local body elections.

The nominated district nazim candidate Mehreen Bhutto said she would contest the elections despite expected rigging.

BOOKED: A case against five police officials and ten prisoners was registered with A-section police under section 337-A, 225-A, 337-F2, 395 PPC for escape of ten prisoners.

The accused prisoners include Younus Dharejo, Nooro Zangejo, Bungal Mirbahar, Khalid Khoso, Ramzan Mirani, Hadi Bux Junejo, Amir Shah, Niaz Maitlo, Mushtaq Mahar and Ghous Bux Jagirani.

Four people who helped the prisoners in escape were also booked.

They were identified as Muno Junejo, Nihal Jagirani and two unknown persons.

The five police officials who were escorting prisoners in the van were nominated in the FIR for negligence.

They include head constable Hadi Bux Mallah and constables Nazir Bhatti, Hadi Bux Khaskheli, Qamar Narejo and Ghous Bux Siyal.
