SWABI: Volunteers on Tuesday started disinfecting Chiknoda and Saleem Khan union councils of Swabi district with the help of locals to protect the people from coronavirus.

The volunteers said that they had also started educating people to keep their areas clean. They said they had chalked out a plan in that regard, adding they had no political objective.

Abdus Salam Advocate, who led the volunteers, said the people of the two union councils welcomed the initiative and extended help.

He said majority of the people did know what measures needed to be taken to protect them from the Covid-19.

“The volunteers have introduced self-service concept among the people inspiring them to continue their efforts on self-help basis,” Mohammad Farooq of Saleem Khan village said.

Meanwhile, the tehsil municipal administration has called upon the people to play role in keeping their surroundings clean to keep coronavirus at bay.

SHOT DEAD: An old enmity claimed life of a person in Razaar on Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred in Rashakai village. Fatehullah, father of the deceased, Amanullah, told police that he along with the victim was on way home when Bilal Khan opened fire on them. He said Amanullah died on the spot. The police registered an FIR and started investigations.

Also in the day, a man allegedly killed his sister-in-law in Kalabat village after exchanging harsh words with her.

Registering FIR in Topi police station, a son of the deceased, said his uncle opened fire on his mother over a domestic issue.

Meanwhile, a woman, who had suffered burns in a gas cylinder blast in Bamkhel village three days ago succumbed to injuries in a Peshawar hospital.

Also, the police arrested a man, Imran Khan, for being involved in the murder of a doctor.
