SKARDU, Sep 12: Senior Superintendent of Police Najaf Quli Mirza has said that Baltistan is a land of love and unity people must maintain peace in the area because development and prosperity cannot be attained without peace.

He said Baltistan was a peaceful district and by the Grace of God there were feelings of love and Islamic brotherhood among the people of the area. He said Islam was a universal religion which emphasized love, peace and brotherhood and forbade people to practice hatred, prejudice and discrimination.

He said: “We have started the idea of reward and punishment in police department,” to make them real guard of the public. He said police would not get involved in sectarian strife.

He said despite limited resources the problems of the police department would be solved. He said all the appointments in police department were made on the merit and now we would be able to create a best police force in Baltistan.

He said massive reshuffle would be made in Northern Areas police soon to make police department more efficient. He said crackdown would be started against illegal arms and drugs in Baltistan.—APP
