RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday called Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to inquire after him.

The railways minister was under treatment at Combined Military Hospital from last Saturday after tested positive for Covid-19 on June 8.

The prime Minister also inquired about the medical facilities being provided to him.

There were rumours in the city about the health of the railways minister that he was on ventilator.

However, PTI MNA and Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control Sheikh Rashid Shafique, who is nephew of railways minister told Dawn that he (Sh. Rashid Ahmed) was feeling better and recovering fast.

Dispelling the rumours, he said that the condition of the minister was stable and he was recovering.

He said virus had damaged his lungs, but now they recovered 70pc and doctors had advised him to stay in hospital for few more days.

He said for the last two days, he did not need Oxygen as there was no breathing problem.

He said he visited the hospital on daily basis to inquire after his health. He said that all other family members and staff of the minister tested negative.

He said special prayers were held in Lal Haveli and in his constituency for his early recovery.
