KARACHI: As many as 1,564 new coronavirus cases emerged and 21 more patients died overnight lifting the tally to 72,656 and death toll to 1,124.
This was stated by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in his regular statement issued here from CM house on Tuesday.
The CM said 6,597 tests were conducted against which 1,564 new cases of coronavirus were detected showing 23 per cent detection rate. “So far, 395,287 samples have been tested which diagnosed 72,656 cases all over Sindh that came to 18.4 per cent result,” he added.
According to the CM, some 21 more patients died overnight lifting the death toll to 1,124 that constituted 1.5pc death rate. He said that 1,357 more patients recovered and were discharged and the number of patients recovered so far had reached 38,401 that constituted 53pc recovery rate. “We are working hard to improve recovery rate further and reduce death rate by conducting as much test as possible so that timely treatment of the detected cases can be started,” he said.
Mr Shah said that 33,131 patients were under treatment.
He added that at present 614 patients were in critical condition, of them 118 were shifted on ventilators. The chief minister said that out of 1,564 new cases 1,028 were detected from six districts of Karachi division. They include 284 in East, 211 in South, 165 in Central, 154 in Korangi, 106 in West and 98 cases in Malir.
He said that Hyderabad had 73 new cases, Sukkur 66, Ghotki 56, Sanghar 43, Khairpur 39, Jamshoro 26, Larkana 18, Mirpurkhas 12, Naushahro Feroze 11, Shikarpur 10, Dadu eight, Matiari six, Jacobabad and Umerkot five each, Thatta four, Qambar three, Shaheed Benazirabad two and Kashmore had one case.
