KOHAT: A police constable, identified as Qadir Zaman, was killed here on Thursday while waiting for his brothers at a bus terminal, police said.
Zaman was standing at the bus stop to receive his two brothers coming from Karak. In the meantime, Habab Gul and Khalid Rehman allegedly came on a motorcycle and opened fire. Constable Zaman received multiple bullet injuries. He was taken to a hospital, but he could not survive. He was serving at the Police Training School, Kohat.
However, his brothers escaped the attack and later nominated Habab and Khalid in the FIR.
Meanwhile DPO Mansoor Aman has been transferred to Peshawar as SSP operations in public interest after spending just five months in Kohat.
The order issued from the IGP office said that the SSP operations, Peshawar, Babar Afridi had been asked to relinquish charge of his post with immediate effect.
HASHISH SEIZED: Cantonment police seized 80 kilogrammes of hashish being smuggled to Sindh from Orakzai tribal district.
SHO Cantt Qismat Khan said that they found an abandoned car on the Ublan road and during search found 80 kilogrammes of hashish hidden in its cavities. A case has been lodged against the unknown smuggler.
Meanwhile, police seized 36 vehicles and millions worth of other items and arrested 47 smugglers in five districts of Kohat division in a crackdown during last six months.
Kohat division DIG Tayyab Hafeez Cheema told a press conference that the price of confiscated items was over Rs20 million. He said that most of the items were taken into custody in the border areas.
