LAHORE: The Punjab government has prepared recommendations for setting up cattle markets outside the cities for the convenience of citizens on the occasion of Eid.

The proposed recommendations will be sent to the federal government for approval.

The recommendations were discussed and finalized in a cabinet sub-committee meeting chaired by law minister Basharat Raja and attended by livestock minister Hasnain Dareshk, additional chief secretary, additional IG Police, local government and community development department secretary, livestock secretary, while divisional commissioners attended via video-link on Saturday.

The meeting discussed the conduct of cattle markets under certain SOPs.

The law minister emphasised that proper publicity should be given for the awareness of coronavirus SOPs in proposed cattle markets.

He said that medical camps would be set up in cattle markets while buyers and traders be required to wear face masks and gloves to protect themselves and others from the coronavirus outbreak.

He stressed that SOPs set by the health department should be enforced strictly.
