I RETIRED as a school teacher after attaining superannuation from the Sindh government in mid-April. There are hundreds of officials like me who have retired from the provincial government during the lockdown. Therefore the grievance that I am writing about is being felt by hundreds of people who have retired after March 23 when the lockdown was imposed in Sindh.
Last year the media had reported a ruling of the superior judiciary which had stated that: if a retired government employee’s pension could not be started for any reason, then at least 65 per cent of the employee’s gross monthly salary should be paid to him every month.
I request the Sindh government to start pension at this rate to retired government employees until the issuance of their pension and other benefits and arrears are paid.
