ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mohammad Sadiq Sanjrani has expressed serious concern over rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in Gwadar and absence of testing facilities in the area.

In a letter written to the Balochistan chief secretary, the Senate Secretariat directed the top bureaucrat of the province to make immediate arrangements for coronavirus testing facilities in Gwadar and strict adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of the virus in the area.

Meanwhile, talking to Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan Tarek Dahroug who called on him here on Wednesday, Mr Sanjrani said Gwadar was the future hub of the world trade and noted that investors from Egypt could benefit from this opportunity.

He said the Senate was ready to provide any support needed in coordination with the provincial governments and relevant departments. The Senate chairman said that Egyptian investors could invest in fisheries, livestock, minerals, services and other sectors.

The ambassador said that Pakistan and Egypt would both benefit by more frequent parliamentary exchanges and investment.
