SIALKOT: Two persons were electrocuted on Monday when the 11KV line snapped and fell on a street in village Paropi Araiyaan.

Some labourers were busy shuttering an under-construction house in the locality when some wet wooden panels fell on the power line passing through the street. With this, the live cables snapped and fell on the street causing current in nearby houses due to which Amina Saleem (14) received severe electric shocks at the door of her house. She was burnt alive there.

Labourer Mudassar Bashir (30) was also electrocuted in the under-construction house while Jameela Bibi also received serious burn wounds while passing through this street. She was shifted to a local hospital in a critical condition.

Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies to the Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Local people protested against the Gujranwala Electric Power Company and said they had repeatedly brought the situation about the dangling wire into their notice.

They said that main 11KV cables were passing by rooftops of the houses and despite the tragedy the company did not remove the line.

The people also chanted slogans against local Gepco officials for their alleged negligence.

Both deceased were laid to rest in a local graveyard.
