BAHAWALPUR: The district administration will hold 11 temporary sacrificial animals’ markets from July 15.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Muzaffar Khan Sial here on Saturday, says a handout.
The cattle markets will be arranged in city’s areas of Karachi Morr, Shashmahi canal bank near airport on Yazman Road, Kacha Phatak, Chowk Azam and Jhangiwali Road while two places each in Ahmedpur East and Hasilpur and one each in Hasilpur and Khairpur Tamewali.
According to the decision, the sacrificial animals after a thorough checking by the staff members of livestock department would be allowed to enter these markets. For this purpose, according to the officials of the livestock department, special livestock check-posts outside the markets would be set up, where the staff would have adequate stocks of the emergency medicines particularly spraying the animals against the ticks to avoid any chances of the contact of the dangerous epidemic of congo virus.
They stated the animals being shifted through vehicles would be inspected in their vehicles before they disembarked from them and entrance to the mandis.
In addition, the officials of health department will also set up their health camps outside themarkets and each person entering the market will be checked with thermal scanner to ascertain his body temperature. Besides, each of the buyers will have to wear face masks and gloves to touch the animals. The DC directed the officials to ensure the strict compliance of SOPs at the markets.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry also reviewed the sacrificial animals markets’ arrangements and issued necessary instructions.
