LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested three suspects involved in a kidnapping and extortion case in Sabzazar.

Police said the suspects -- Ali Raza, Afzaal and Faizan -- had kidnapped a man at gunpoint from Sabzazar Colony and took him to their outhouse.

The suspects tortured the man and snatched Rs1 million from him. They also hurled life threats at the victim and demanded Rs2 million more from him, the police said.

Saddar Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Ghazanfar Ali Shah said on receiving information about the suspects a police team conducted a raid at a gambling den and

arrested them. He said thousands of rupees and illegal weapons were recovered from them.

The SP said the suspects would be prosecuted on different charges, including kidnapping for ransom, extortion, gambling and possessing illegal weapons.

Meanwhile, police also arrested a suspect for resorting to aerial firing and uploading its video on social media.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed had taken notice of the aerial firing incident in Sanda police jurisdiction and ordered the arrest of the suspect known as Bhola Tension.

Police also recovered weapons from his possession and booked him.
