KARACHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) had initially planned to move the World T20 to February-March next year, a window that would’ve coincided with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Dawn has learnt.

Sources have revealed that the ICC was planning to do so on the insistence of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which was pushing the ICC for the event to be rescheduled during early next year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, objected to the proposed schedule and asked the ICC to move the coveted tournament to a different window. The tournament has now been moved to October-November next year. The PCB and BCCI have been at each other’s throats for quite some time now with the latter refusing to play any form of cricket with Pakistan.

PCB chairman Ehsan Mani was previously offered to take up the leadership role of the governing body of cricket by some of its members; a request which was subsequently refused by him stating that he wanted to serve Pakistan cricket.
