KARACHI: A huge fire that broke out in a garments factory in the Korangi Industrial Area on Sunday was extinguished after several hours of hectic efforts, said officials.

The blaze erupted in Surti factory at around 4.55am on Sunday, said a fire brigade officer.

Around eight fire engines and private water bowsers managed to put out the blaze after seven hours, but the ‘cooling work’ continued till late into the evening, the officer added.

The cause of the fire and estimation of loss is not known yet.

The factory administration officer, Mohammed Asif, told the media that the fire erupted on the first floor of the building where garments were stacked.
