TAXILA: As many as 87 development projects worth Rs12.66 billion would be executed in the district of Attock during the current fiscal year.
This was stated by officials at a special meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) held at the deputy commissioner office on Sunday.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Chaudhry Abdul Majid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Zegham Nawaz, Chief Executive District Education Authority Dr Javed Iqbal and heads of different departments.
Briefing the DDC about the development projects, the officials said Rs302.299 million would be spent on execution of five schemes related to constructions, Rs1.69bn on 23 schemes in public health, Rs339m on six schemes to provide sports facilities in various towns, Rs5.95bn on 25 projects regarding highways and roads, Rs2.757bn on four schemes to improve the irrigation system, Rs40m on execution of a scheme for the mines development, Rs50m on a project in the livestock development and Rs241.9m would be utilised on four schemes of the local government.
Moreover, Rs59.97m would be spent on execution of two schemes for tourism development, Rs76.55m on three schemes in the higher education sector, Rs879m on execution of one scheme for agriculture development and Rs104.55m on execution of a scheme of Rescue 1122 services.
The DC urged transparency in award of work, utilisation of quality material and timely completion of these projects. He asked the officials of the executing agencies to ensure quality and required standard of work.
During the meeting, issues related to the health sector, education and rehabilitation of roads were also discussed.
