KARACHI: The city administration on Wednesday decided not to allow sacrifice of animals on streets and roads.

It said that the slaughter of animals was allowed only at the points notified by the Sindh government so cleanliness could be ensured and offal removal work could be smoothly carried out on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani.

The commissioner asked the deputy commissioners to get implemented the orders of the Sindh government and not to allow anybody to sacrifice animals on streets and roads, which have not been notified.

The meeting reviewed the contingency plans prepared by the Solid Waste Management Board, District Municipal Corporations and cantonment boards for the removal of offal.

It was decided that the contingency plans would be further discussed with the DCs concerned at their offices and would be finalised after joint meetings of the officials and the DCs.

It was also decided that the DCs would supervise the work of offal removal and arrangements to combat the expected monsoon rains on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
