LAHORE: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja visited the Punjab Election Commission (PEC) here on Monday and discussed demarcation of constituencies for the forthcoming local government polls in the province.

He also reviewed various hurdles in recruitment of staff for provincial and district offices of the entity, equal distribution of resources among various district offices and matters pertaining to construction of district offices.

Mr Raja said during a meeting here that the relevant state agency had assured him of providing finances without delay for holding the polls, and directed the PEC to prepare their budget for the activity so that funding requirements of the Election Commission of Pakistan could be submitted to the relevant authorities in time.

Among those who attended the meeting included provincial Election Commissioner Ghulam Israr Khan, the additional secretary and other officers of the PEC.
