LAYYAH:A girl working with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) was allegedly blackmailed and raped by one of her colleagues on Saturday night. Karor Laal Esan police registered a case on the report of the girl on Sunday.

The girl, a resident of Chak 54-ML Darga Khan tehsil in Bhakkar district, was working with an NGO and residing on the upper storey of her office in Ward No 5, Karor city.

She told Dawn that the suspect was her colleague, and a year ago he had taken her private pictures and videos after they had developed a relationship. Later, the suspect threatened to release those pictures and videos, and allegedly raped her repeatedly, she said.

On Saturday night, while she was sleeping, the suspect along with an associate entered her room. The associate held her at gunpoint, while the suspect allegedly raped her. Both the men were forcing her to go along with them. On raising a hue and cry, neighbours reached the spot and foiled the alleged kidnapping.

On the report of the girl, police lodged a first information report under sections 376 and 292 of the PPC against the two suspects.

Investigation Officer Kamran Azhar Ali told Dawn that the girl’s medical report had confirmed rape.”Both the culprits are at large, but they will be apprehended soon, ”he added.
