KOHAT: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, has decided to hold special examinations after opening of the educational institutions for those candidates who were not satisfied with the promotion to next class on the basis of the previous grade results.

A statement issued by the controller of examinations on Monday said all the regular ad private candidates could apply before August 20 through an application in the name of the controller free of cost.

It said the male and female candidates of matriculation part-II and intermediate could apply for reassessment of their results. It said the candidates, who failed in 40 per cent papers, could also apply.

SCHEMES APPROVED: State minister for narcotics Sheharyar Afridi on Monday announced a new water pipeline for Boraka and a road for Barh area in Shahpur union council.

He announced the schemes during corner meetings with the people of Gumbat, Jarma, Kharmato, Barh, Boraka and Jabbi.

The minister said the eight kilometres road would cost Rs80 million. He also announced gas facility for Barh Jabbi area.

He announced Rs10.5 million for replacing the broken pipeline and a dispensary and transformers for Boraka area.

ONLINE CLASSES LAUNCHED: The Orakzai Scouts launched online classes in the technical college, Shalka Mela, on Monday.

Commandant Orakzai Scouts Brig Zakir Khan, on the occasion, said due to absence of online system the students were deprived of classes. Now they would have modern technology to continue their studies.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman on Monday extended the ban on constructions on government land and near streams by further 60 days.

A statement said the ban applied on constructions where indexes had not been marked, which included collective property, streams and rainwater paths.

TWO HELD FOR SMUGGLING ARMS: The Jarma police recovered communication systems and weapons being smuggled from Torkham, Khyber district to Chaman, Balochistan, for carrying out terror activities on Monday.

DSP Sanobar Shah told a press conference that the recovery was made at Muslimabad checkpost on the Indus Highway.

He said the police recovered two M4 guns, 10 chargers, 400 cartridges, two telescopes, wireless sets, and arrested smugglers, Bashir Ahmed and Abdul Aleem hailing from Chaman.

Meanwhile, doctors at the KDA Teaching Hospital in an operation removed a hairpin from the lung of a 19-year-old girl on Monday.

Medical superintendent Raheem Khattakl said the successful operation was performed by the ENT surgeon Zafar Hassan.

He said the child from Mohallah Sangerh had been bought to hospital a few days back with lung pain. After X-Ray a hairpin was located in her lung.
