ISLAMABAD: PPP information secretary and MNA Dr Nafisa Shah has said that her party was waiting for Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif to announce the date of the multi-party conference (MPC).

In a statement here on Tuesday, Dr Shah said the PPP was not the cause of delay in the MPC and the party chairman had contacted several leaders of different parties in this regard and all those leaders agreed with the PPP stance about the MPC.

Dr Shah expressed the hope that Shahbaz Sharif would soon announce the date of the MPC.

Meanwhile, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan and discussed the opposition’s role inside and outside the parliament.

In conversation with Aimal Wali Khan, the PPP chairman said the government had been unsuccessful in executing its duty and was directionless.

“The longer this government stays, the larger will be the losses that this country will bear,” the PPP chairman was quoted to have stated in the meeting according to an official handout issued by the party’s Media Office.

Mr Bhutto Zardari said the PPP would not compromise on injustices being carried out by the government regarding the National Finance Commission (NFC) award. He said the effort to push this country towards a one-unit system would be in vain.

The ANP’s provincial president agreed with the PPP chairman’s concerns, reservations and point of view.
