HYDERABAD, Sept 19: The Pakistan chapter of the Association of People’s of Asia has demanded that the governments of Pakistan and India should decide to set up an Indian visa office in Karachi before reopening the Khokhropar border.
In a statement issued here on Monday, APA Pakistan chapter president Khursheed Shaikh advocate, Sindh chapter president Zafar Rajput and other office-bearers said in the absence of the Indian visa office, the people of Sindh would have to travel to Islamabad to get visa.
They said getting visa had become inconvenient and expensive for the people of Sindh.
They said under the circumstances reopening of the Khokhropar route would be rendered meaningless as the facility would remain restricted to rich people only.
The APA leaders urged the two governments to announce a definite date for reopening of a visa office in Karachi.
They said 90 per cent of the people whose relatives were living in India belong to Sindh.
SU: The vice-chancellor of the Sindh University, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has urged the parents to check attendance and academic activities of their children in the university.
He said the university authorities would also keep the parents posted about attendance of their children.
He stated this during his visit to various faculties, institutes and departments on Monday.
The vice-chancellor checked attendance of teachers and students in the classes.
He urged the students that the examination forms of the students would not be accepted if their attendance was not upto the mark.
He advised the students to attend their classes regularly.
Meanwhile, the university authorities claimed that the academic activities on the campus remained peaceful and attendance in all institutes and departments was recorded at 70 per cent.
LUMHS: The registrar of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences has announced that elections for two reserved seats of the LUMHS syndicate will be held on September 29, at the committee room of the university.
The last date for submission of nomination papers has been fixed as September 22 while list of candidates will be displayed on September 24.
LAST DATE: The additional controller of examinations of the LUMHS Jamshoro has announced that the last date for submission of examination forms of postgraduate October examination 2005 of LUMHS Jamshoro has been extended upto October 3 without late fee.
The last date for submission of examination forms with late fee of Rs300 will be October 10, 2005.
