SWABI: Three people were killed and two others injured in different incidents here on Tuesday.

Three persons were injured in collision between a car and motorcycle on Baja bypass.

They were identified as Tauqir Khan, 30, Irfan Khan, 32, and Yousaf Khan, 8.

They were taken to the DHQ hospital where Irfan succumbed to his injuries.

In Doubian village, a man identified as Farman Ali was shot dead by his rivals allegedly over an issue involving a woman.

Police officials said that an FIR had been registered at the Yar Hussain police station.

In another incident, Mohammad Israr of Ghani Chathra village, Gadoon Amazai belt, died when he was hit by a speeding car in Chota Lahor.

Meanwhile, jirga members of Maneri Bala said that during last couple of weeks about 25 people had been killed and over 50 injured in different incidents in the district.

They said that such incidents created enmities and rivalries which could pose a grave threat to peace in the district.

They said that majority of people fell victims to enmities and accidents involving motorcycles.

Aamir Nawab, general secretary of the jirga, said that in a meeting they unanimously called for a police crackdown on teenage motorcyclists to check underage driving.

OFFICE-BEARERS: Attaullah Khan and Irshad Khan have been nominated as Swabi tehsil president and general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, respectively.

Party’s district president Anwar Haqdad has issued the nomination letters of the two.

He said that representation had been given to all regions and deserving people were picked up to strengthen the party.
