LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD)claims to have foiled a terrorism plan targeting the provincial capital.

A CTD spokesperson said on Tuesday that an alleged militant of proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)/Hizbul Ahrar (HuA) had been arrested during an Intelligence-Based Operation conducted in the city. A suicide jacket, hand grenades and explosive material were recovered from the militant, he added.

He said the CTD got a tip-off that a militant was waiting for a potential suicide bomber near the railway station and they had planned attack on the office of a sensitive law-enforcement agency.

A CTD team raided the place and arrested the militant identified as Liaqat Khan before arrival of the potential suicide bomber.
