CHITRAL: Flash floods caused by torrential rains inundated a number of villages in Bumburate valley, swept away a graveyard in Batrik and caused inconvenience to tourists.

The rain that continued for an hour on Wednesday afternoon also caused closure of the main road for vehicular traffic. The road was reopened by local people by late evening.

The flood inflicted heavy losses on farmers as it inundated maize and bean crops and fruit orchards.

The flood water also partially damaged 12 houses. A young woman sustained injuries while moving to a safer place.
