ISLAMABAD: Two people were murdered, police said on Saturday.

A man was murdered, allegedly by his wife’s first husband. The victim has been identified as Bakht Munir, 47.

Police said two armed men were waiting for him outside a mosque in Satra Meel.

They began firing soon after he exited the mosque and then fled. Munir was shot five times and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Unit in-charge Inspector Abdul Sattar told Dawn that Munir and his wife were married 17 years ago.

His wife was previously married to someone else and had divorced him.

He said the victim’s family has accused his wife’s first husband of the murder.

Separately, a man was killed by the rival party over a property dispute.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf, 47.

According to Ashraf’s wife, four people raided their home and began beating him.

He suffered multiple injuries, while the attackers escaped. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Unit in-charge Inspector Munir Ahmed told Dawn Ashraf had been involved in a dispute with another party over the ownership of the house in which he lived with his family.
