KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Monday demanded that the federal government place the names of Karachi and Hyderabad mayors and district chairmen on the Exit Control List (ECL) and launch a probe into their assets.
“The tenure of the local governments in Sindh is going to expire soon and it is feared that the elected representatives of Karachi and Hyderabad who have indulged in billions of rupees corruption can escape from the country,” said Mr Kamal in a statement. “It is our demand from the federal government and superior judiciary to include the names of mayors, chairmen and vice chairmen of Karachi and Hyderabad on ECL.”
He also demanded that a probe be initiated into the funds given to them as well as their assets.
“A detailed audit of the funds given to the LG representatives in the head of district ADP must be held so that corrupt elements could be held accountable,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Kamal expressed deep concern over the widespread devastation caused by the recent rains in Sindh, including Karachi, due to what he called the incompetence and criminal negligence of the provincial government.
