LAHORE: The PML-N has expressed disappointment over international organisation Global Fund’s decision to protect and guard its money by itself instead of trusting the PTI government.

“This is a clear expression of distrust by the Swiss organisation in Imran Khan’s administration,” PML-N secretary information Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a statement here on Friday.

She said the letter by the organisation was a statement of ineptitude, incompetence, nonseriousness, lack of transparency and mismanagement of the Imran-led government.

“The additional safeguard policy by the organisation is a testament to the fact that this government has lost all credibility,” she said.

She said the international fund had taken the step due to the political instability and the failed government in Pakistan. She said the fund had decided to spend $300m grant for AIDS, TB and malaria under its own supervision instead of trusting and involving the Pakistan government.

“This is an expression of distrust and disappointment in Imran Khan’s non-seriousness in dealing with AIDS and other fatal diseases. Imran’s similar attitude towards polio had reaped devastating results for the country where its spread has started increasing instead of diminishing under Imran’s rule,” she said. The PML-N leader said the healthcare related problems were worsening in the provinces owing to the apathy of the federal government.

“National healthcare has been jeopardised by the government’s lack of interest in battling HIV, TB and malaria.”

She said this letter was a proof that the government was not effectively spending the available resources on relevant programmes.
