LAHORE: Four animals and two reptiles rescued from a circus in Kot Lakhpat by the Punjab Wildlife Department have been given to the Lahore Zoo and the Jallo Wildlife Park.

Lahore Wildlife Lahore Assistant Director Tanveer Janjua told Dawn on Monday the animals were confiscated by the Punjab Wildlife Department team on court orders.

The animals confiscated are a hyena, a fox, a civet cat, a monkey and two pythons.

Mr Janjua said the Lahore Zoo had been looking for ahyena for the last many years. Besides hyena, the fox, civet cat and two pythons have been given to the zoo whereas the monkey has been given to the Jallo Wildlife Park.

The assistant director said the circus cages in which animals were kept were very small and that the confiscated animals were on the protected schedule of animals.
